Can you believe it’s September???? Does this surprise you as much as it does me???? And why am I using multiple question marks???? I have no idea. Other than I’m truly gobsmacked September is here and I’m not ready to let go of summer – can I just get an ‘amen?!’ It’s still hot and humid and because the Winter of 2013-14 was so. very. long., I’ve got a death-grip on summer and will not release her until Mother Nature pries summer from my slightly wrinkled, tightly-clenched fist, one finger at a time. Even then, I predict I’ll drag myself into fall kicking and screaming.
A couple of weekends ago, The Professor and I took a day and headed to downtown Indianapolis to the White River State Park; it was a beautiful day, we both had our cameras and spent several hours just walking around snapping photos – enjoy!
We enjoy taking walks, but unfortunately we live in an area where there are no sidewalks and two-lane roads make it nearly impossible to walk in our neighborhood safely. But we are very fortunate to have access to the Cardinal Greenway in Muncie which is about a 20 minute drive; it’s a beautiful area with a paved road for walking or biking as well as dirt trails for horseback riding. This same trail was once railway in the early 1900s, but is being restored as a nature preserve and is quite beautiful. Plans are to eventually pave the entire stretch of abandoned railroad corridor in east central Indiana from Marion to Richmond, but at this time about 27 miles of continuous trail has been completed. It was a perfect day for a walk – enjoy the flora and fauna of the Cardinal Greenway!
