As usual, it was a jam-packed week here in our little abode; no traveling this week but somehow we managed to stay super busy – how does that happen anyway? I vaguely remember a time when curling up with a good book was the order of the day; however, I have to admit having pie is a pretty splendid tradeoff!

This week we enjoyed a bit of yoga with a little help from . . . ahem . . . our friends

This week was also my first attempt to run again since Lyme disease hit me back in May. We grabbed our phones, pulled up the Run to 5k program, cued up the tunes and jogged at a tiny little cemetery down the road; it’s quiet, no traffic and no one will see me and say, ‘Dang, that woman runs slow!’ Hey – with views like these, who can complain?

This week Indianapolis received a bit of rain but sadly, the rain didn’t make it far enough North to douse our much needed lawn; it’s been weeks since we’ve had any real precipitation and we desperately need it – my apologies to those of you drowning in rain – but could you please send some our way???

This week I had the bright idea of tripling a recipe for making our GF AP-flour mix; trouble was finding a container large enough not only to hold the flours, but then mixing said flours until all were sufficiently blended. As you can see, there was . . . shall we say, a bit of a mishap . . . the tradeoff? Making that pie crust up there in the first shot.

By the way, all of these photos were taken with my phone and shared via Instagram; you can follow me on Instagram by searching for ‘smithbites’ – you can follow The Professor by searching for ‘smithbitesprof’ – we’d love to see you there!

And speaking of pie – what kind do you think The Professor and I should make today? Chocolate cream? Banana Cream? Lemon Meringue?

Thanks so much for stopping by – Happy Sunday!

  1. All for the sake of pie. It’s worth it. And what is with cats and kids being such a pain while you try to workout?

  2. What a week! Glad you had such a productive one! Now I need to get on that GF flour mix!

As for the pie… I’d go classic, with a twist. I’m always fond of my apple/sage/brown butter pie.

  3. Why not make the banana pudding with the nilla wafers…. Mmmmm i love that dessert

  4. You’ve definitely had a busy at-home week, Deb! I love the photos of your cats in their yoga positions. 🙂 That’s great that you are feeling well enough to start running again. Who cares how fast/slow you’re going? You’re out doing it!

  5. Mimi Fowlkes

    Lemon Chess…

  6. Chocolate cream! Or Coconut. 🙂
