I called Debra at 6:30 a.m. She has to take a morning flight from Atlanta after the much heralded Blogher Food ’11. I know all her blogging friends will miss her, but I can’t wait to have her back home. After making sure she had a way to the airport, her confirmation number, etc., I decided that this 3-day bachelor could use a Starbucks run.
This is what greeted me on my way out.
Both Debra and I have seen these ducks on our road for the past week. We have no idea why they are in the middle of the road, but my guess is that the pavement is warm. They have a little duck sauna together each morning.
I’m glad I had my camera with me this morning. As I approached, they opted for power in numbers.
So, they got closer to each other…
And, closer….
Then they decided that maybe I was getting too close and they would have to leave.
I got the hint. (I think I’m getting a hate glare here)
I decided to leave them alone, and I think they were glad to see me go.
I’m sure tomorrow morning on my way to campus they will be warming their little duck butts on the pavement again. I just hope other drivers are as conscientious.
What should we name them?

I love these photos and the story they tell. I think that was a hate glare too – tell the prof to run for the hills the next time a couple of bad-a@* ducks send a death-glare his way!

they are beautiful; ours are not ‘regular’ ducks, but muscovies… sort of goose like; hope there is a slow-moving sign on the road…

That’s adorable! I’m not feeling very creative today because all I can manage is Bonnie and Clyde. But these two hardly look like the two to perpetrate a robbery. Then again, being a really cute duck would offer some great cover.

Thanks for letting us borrow Deb. She is one terrific girl. Loved getting to meet her in person, even though she was pulled away from me and we never got to finish our conversation. Oh, and she almost took me out with a door, but that’s another story.
And the ducks are pretty awesome, too. Adorable. Spring really is here.

Frick and Frack, of course. My mom had a pair of ducks when she was a kid, just like these two. And that’s what they were called. Besides, I’m pretty sure it’s going to feel good to shout FRICK! And FRACK! when they make you late for work.
I’m not sure we can name them… their fate is unknown and I’m a tad bit nervous that it won’t end well.
We had a couple of white ducks that returned to our lake cottage for several years, and my Grandma called the Heckyl and Jeckyl. I’ve never seen ducks hang out in the middle of the road! Very cute, if unsafe.
That is hilarious! I wonder what they were really thinking as they laid down on the road! We have a lot of geese where I live and they are always stopping traffic, as they dawdle across the streets, but I have yet to see any lay down in the middle of the road.
Absolutely adorable but they now got me all worried sitting there in the middle of the street.

Too funny! I don’t think we have white ducks here in Seattle, but I see a pair of Mallards beside the trail every time I run. They seem to keep to the ditch, fortunately!

I would be afraid to name them; their proclivity for hanging in the middle of the road has me nervous. Was sure cute though to see them re-group when ‘threatened’ by the Professor!
They’re so cute! I sure hope drivers are careful and courteous of them. I’m horrible at names… I’d probably call them Donald and Daisy because I’m so not creative!
