SNOW STORM
“Announced by all the trumpets of the sky,
Arrives the snow, and, driving o’er the fields,
Seems nowhere to alight: the withered air
Hides hills and woods, the river, and the heaven,
And veils the farm-house at the garden’s end.
The sled and traveler stopped, the courier’s feet
Delayed, all friends shut out, and housemates sit
Around the radiant fireplace, enclosed
In a tumultuous privacy of storm.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

A lovey poem, a beautiful photograph, and a reminder to savor all the joys that each season brings. Thank you for sharing, my friend!
So beautiful! But I’m glad we don’t have any snow here! Stay warm!
That is quite lovely, and I don’t tire of hearing about and seeing how people with weather live. Until today, we’ve had very un-wintery weather. I’ve enjoyed it this year, but I’m thinking it’s because we had a horrible summer. Hang in there!

A warm fireplace sounds like just the thing to ward off the cold of a snow storm! Hope you are inside all cozy and warm 🙂
I suppose it would be snotty to say we have had nearly 2 weeks of of almost 80 degree weather! Today, the winter returns with highs in the 50s. GREG
I’m trying not to be bitter about all this snow. But now James has hurt his back shoveling the 5th snow storm in as many weeks, which means the next one will fall to me and my weak back. I’m so over it! But I do love your photo 🙂 Happy Sunday!
If only I had a fireplace right now. That would make me one happy man. Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem with us!
