The Professor and I took a day during this break to head down to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to visit the Andy Warhol exhibit; to say it was stunning is an understatement.  This massive piece met us in the foyer and while not part of the Warhol exhibit, is still quite impressive – I’m afraid the photos don’t do it justice.

The piece is called, ‘Gravity’s Loom’ and is the creation of Los Angeles-based design team, Ball-Nogues Studio.

Hundreds of strands of thick twine clipped inside rings create swirling patterns of bright colors – exactly what we need when the sun plays her disappearing act during the winter months here in Indiana.

These photos were taken by The Professor and The Professor’s brother who, with niece Avery, met us at the museum.

  6. What a beautiful and unusual piece of art! That’s a great way to introduce color in the dreariness of winter (it’s not much better here in SoCal, with all the rain – I am growing webbed feet!)

  7. I love going to art museums but just don’t do it enough (not as fun with 4 little ones tagging along!)

  16. In college (at the University of Oregon), I did my work-study at the School of Fine Arts. Specifically, I was the “caretaker” for the little rotating art exhibit in the lobby of the main building, so I was always around to see student work. And man, some of this stuff was breathtaking – like the pictures shown above! Wow.. haven’t thought about that time in my life in YEARS!!!! Happy Sunday to you and The Professor.

  19. Growing up in Cincinnati, I’m a die hard fan of the Cincinnati Reds. Warhol worked his magic on a Pete Rose piece that is just one of my favorites ever!
