We are beyond the halfway mark of January . . . as in January 22, 2012 already . . . I’m gonna let that settle in for a moment . . . if you’re like me, you’ve got whiplash right about now . . . but we’re gonna carry on as if this is the most normal thing in the world and share a little recap of what life was like this week at Smith Bites . . .

My last painting project for #OperationPantry is this hutch and I have to tell you, getting the right color on this baby has proved more challenging than anticipated. The Professor leaned toward a butter yellow color but I wasn’t a fan; I then tried my pick of orange which also didn’t work so today we tried green . . . the paint store didn’t mix it correctly and we didn’t notice until we got home . . . a big #paintfail on this project so far . . . white and gray are the colors so in the meantime, if anyone has suggestions, please leave me a comment . . .

This winter weather has been crazy . . . one day the sky looked like this . . .

And the next day like this . . .

Some of us . . . ahem . . . had a jelly belly . . . or two . . . or three . . .

We squeezed a bit of citrus . . .

And made this . . .

And then we stirred together a bit of polenta and made this . . .

Both of which will be posted here later this week . . .

Thanks for hanging out with us – enjoy your Sunday!

Picking paint colors can be so frustrating. What if you make the hutch pop with barn red or a medium blue? That’d be a fun contrast to white and grey.

Debra – how did you do the collage of the three pics – on Instagram??

Carol ~ I have used two different collage apps . . . one is called CollageMaker (there is a ‘free’ version and one that costs $1.99) and the other app is called Frametastic (thanks Kim at RGBistro!) which is free. CollageMaker allows you the freedom to place and size pics randomly whereas Frametastic has set templates; I like both depending on what photos I’m placing and what story I want to tell!
