CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL AND A SMITH BITES PLAYLIST

Champagne Cocktail

by The Professor on December 29, 2011

Happy New Year!  This is the Professor.  You might have noticed that it’s been a little quiet here at Smith Bites over the Holidays; Debra had a kidney stone and subsequent infection, but with mega doses of antibiotic and a little TLC, everything seems to be under control.   Her energy is returning and we’ll be back to regular posting again soon.

To ring in the New Year, we’ve got a lovely Champagne Cocktail . . . with a twist . . . we’ve made a few of these and I think it’s safe to say that we liked it, we really liked it!

Adding a colorful bitters-soaked sugar cube to the bottom of the flute not only adds a beautiful color and terrific flavor but even more bubbles!

Simply place a sugar cube on the bottom of a Champagne flute or coupe glass.  Douse the sugar cube with the bitters and fill the glass with Champagne.    Garnish with a lemon twist. How is that for an easy cocktail?

And no party is complete without the perfect playlist so I’ve put together a few of our favorites . . . Cheers, Salute, “Cin-Cin” or however you say it . . . here’s to a fantastic 2012 . . .

Happy New Year!
